“Gangsta Grizzzillllllllllllls”
Before this DJ Khaled-esque album came out, DJ Drama had forever immortalized that Lil’ Jon sound bite. “Gangsta Grizzzzzzzziiiiillllllss”. (Matter fact, I just had to say it again) The CD is pretty standard. The intro starts off with The Setup, an interlude in which the FEDS prepare for the raid on DJ Drama’s studio. (As a result of the now infamous incident, DJ Drama and his partner DJ Cannon lost all their CD’s and faced jail-time for making money off their Gangsta Grillz mixtapes) Who better to start off the CD (for the second time) than Lil’ Jon himself, on track #2, Gangsta Grillz? The next song is Takin’ Pictures, featuring Young Buck (where has he been for the last minute, anyway), Willie the Kid (whose flow is sounding better and better these days), a super-charged Jim Jones, Rick Ross, who does his same ol’, and Jeezy & T.I. (His last album feeeelllllll offfff! Haha).
Anyway, not to bore the fan, the album has dope beats (Producers include: Drumma Boy, a guy called Dame Grease on Takin Pictures, Don Cannon, on the Cannon (rmx) featuring Lil’ Wayne – this one’s for you Weezy Stans!!! and Jazze Pha) The highlight of the album (for now) is definitely “The Art of Storytellin Part 4” by Outkast & Marsha Ambrosius. Check Dre’s flow:
“(she) walked to my bedroom
and thought to myself that's the shape of things to come
she said 'why in the club you don't make it precipitate?
you know make it rain when you can make thunderstorm'
I'm like why? the world needs sun, the hood needs funds
there's a war going on and half the battle is guns
how dare i throw it on the floor
when people are poor”
This verse oughta put current rappers to shame. (I’m liking that line “that’s the shape of things to come.” Get it? “things to come”………. Think… scratch…….. OH! Haha.) But there are so many songs which have single potentials. My only beef with this CD is that some of the songs have been included in previous mixtapes. I am sure that Takin’ Pictures used to be “Feds Takin’ Pictures” on another mixtape. I think the Katt Williams interlude was very unnecessary and DJ Drama just stuck the dude in there ‘cause he wanted to show off. I think that it was dope to include B.G. in 187 (which btw is an awesome song w/ Project Pat and Eightball & MJG!.) Aiight, here’s my CONCLUSION: ALL the songs are dope!!! Yupperss, children!! Now go out and cop it!!!! Mine has “for promotional use only” on ‘em AHAH
P.S. Talk Bout Me by Lloyd w/ guests, has a smooth vibe to it. Even T.I. sounds ‘upgraded’ on it. (I guess he makes up for some of his swagger lost on this one.. OOH LOW-BLOW!) Track 13 is worth a listen just to hear how Lloyd Banks now sounds (haha) and also Tony Yayo. Diddy, like usual sounds like an idiot on the Diddy Interlude.
5 ‘good first attempt / keep it up and you can make part 2 like DJ Khaled’ out of 5
